Whether it’s to lust after the couture wedding dresses or dream about some of the world’s most exclusive and enviable wedding locations, there’s no denying that we all love a celebrity wedding. And as we’ve been voted the Best Wedding Venue in Wales for three years, nobody loves a good wedding more than us! Whilst most of us aren’t blessed with their budgets, celebrity weddings are a great place to get inspiration, and it’s fair to say that wedding fever has heightened in the UK and beyond after seeing the photographs of Pippa Middleton’s beautifully sophisticated wedding day.
With the topic of Pippa’s wedding still hot on everyone’s lips, we’re taking a trip down memory lane to take a look at some of the most famous celebrity weddings from the last few years. So sit back and relax as we recap on some of our favourite wedding moments. That is if you can take your eyes off that Giles Deacon dress for just a few moments…
Kate and William
This was easily the most iconic wedding day of the last decade, and you can’t deny that Kate looked truly breathtaking. In fact, when you think of the most defining wedding moments of our generation, it doesn’t get more iconic than Kate emerging in her Alexander McQueen wedding dress. Aptly, it was a dress fit for royalty!
Kim and Kanye
Love them or hate them, there’s no denying that #Kimye’s wedding was a memorable one! And how could we forget the dream that was Kim’s custom-made Givenchy haute couture wedding dress? In fact, their wedding photo was the most liked photo on Instagram in 2014, with 2.4 million likes.
By Kardashian standards, the wedding ceremony was relatively small with 200 guests watching them tie the knot in Florence. The same can’t be said for the budget though, which could make anyone’s eyes water! It was Kim’s wedding to Kanye that also saw her get welcomed into fashion’s most elite circle as she finally graced the front cover of Vogue with her new husband.
Posh and Becks
It’s hard to believe that the UK’s golden couple has now been married for almost 18-years! However, their special day still remains at the forefront of many people’s minds. In a spectacle that featured doves, rose petals, flower girls dressed as angels, it’s fair to say that the event was ever so slightly over the top.
The couple also had his-and-her gold thrones and cut their wedding cake with a sword! In fact, even David himself admitted that they might have gone overboard. Yet, the lavish ceremony clearly wasn’t to compensate for a lack of love as Posh and Becks are still very much happily married and remain as one of the nation’s favourite couples.
Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney
The world was shocked when Hollywood’s most famous bachelor finally tied the knot. But his bride wasn’t just any woman. A barrister specialising in international law and human rights, Amal Alamuddin has both brains and beauty. Wearing a beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown that featured hand-embroidered pearls and diamanté accents, Amal looked truly breathtaking in their Venice wedding whilst the groom donned a classic Giorgio Armani tuxedo.
Pippa and James Matthews
Of course, this wouldn’t be a wedding blog if we didn’t take a more in-depth look at 2017’s most high-profile wedding! Epitomising elegance and natural beauty, Pippa Middleton somehow managed to look even more stunning than she did when she first caught the nation’s attention as the bridesmaid for the Duchess of Cambridge in 2011. With her hair and makeup styled in a chic yet simple way, Pippa let her Giles Deacon dress do all the talking.
The wedding ceremony took place in a small church in Berkshire and the reception was held in a purpose-built glass marquee at the Middleton estate. Admittedly, not all of us have the space to build a wedding marquee in our back gardens, so if you’re hoping to recreate the exclusivity and privacy that Pippa wanted, your best option is to book an exclusive wedding venue. If only there was one in Gower with equally as gorgeous views. Oh, wait. That’s us.
