Who knew that a wedding venue in Wales could bring a certain famous film to life? A few days ago, we transformed our award-winning wedding venue into a Mary Poppin’s themed extravaganza; complete with floating tables and chairs, chimney sweeps and even an appearance from Mary Poppins herself!
The entire event was organised by The Wave, and whilst it was a great evening with plenty of fun had by all, it was also for a very important and deserving cause; it was the 2017 Cash For Kids Ball for the children’s charity NSPCC. For those who aren’t familiar with the amazing work that the charity do, NSPCC are a charity set up to prevent and keep children safe from abuse.
This was actually our third year hosting and sponsoring the Cash For Kids Ball, so we wanted to do something spectacular in order to raise valuable funds and awareness for such an incredible cause. We’re delighted to say that a total of over £14,000 was raised by the end of the evening!
Guests were treated to a theatrical and musical extravaganza from Mary Poppins and even some dancing chimney sweeps. There was also entertainment from Simon Webbe and The Voice finalists ‘Into the Ark’.
Our Managing Director, Andrew Hole, commented: “It was an honour to support Cash for Kids, especially as we raised such a staggering sum on the auction, this is the third year that we’ve hosted and thanks to the generosity of the guests and sponsors we couldn’t be prouder.”

On Friday evening, we were delighted to attend the Swansea Life Awards at Brangwyn Hall. For those who don’t know, the Swansea Life Awards is an annual event that pays tribute to the area’s best lifestyle businesses. It’s always a great event with plenty of entertainment, laughs and champagne; needless to say it’s right up our street!
Best in the business
The colourful circus theme was a great excuse for us to have some fun and dress up to the nines for Swansea’s party event of the year. We were honoured to be amongst the 400 people that showed up to the event, and even more excited to be up for the award for Best Wedding Venue in Wales.
With outstanding acrobatic performances and live music, it was a pretty spectacular evening. To top it off, we were delighted to win the award for Best Wedding Venue in Wales for the third consecutive year. This meant the world to us as the award is based on public vote. It was also great to see some of our suppliers pick up an award for their outstanding services within the industry.
In addition to providing first class wedding packages, we are also committed to innovation behind the scenes so with all of our recent acquiring of the iconic Fairyhill hotel and the tireless hard work from our wonderful team, it really meant a lot for us to hold onto our title as Best Wedding Venue.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for us and also massive congratulations to all of the other winners from the night.

We asked our wedding team manager, Lauren, for her top wedding planning tips. Lauren manages our dedicated team of wedding coordinators at our luxury South Wales wedding venue, so knows a thing or two when it comes to planning the dream day.
1. Set out your budget from the very beginning then seek to find suppliers who fit within this remit. There’s no point researching quotes for a helicopter for instance unless you have a budget that permits this. Be realistic this way you’re more likely to maximise your budget and guarantee more for your money when negotiating with suppliers.
2 . Try to issue your invitations as far in advance as possible to ensure that everyone special to you can make
arrangements to be part of your special day. It also allows you to provide your venue with your exact numbers in
advance as you don’t want to be paying for guests that can’t make it.
3 . Google is your best friend when planning your special day, check out wedding blogs and Pinterest for
inspiration and take a look at the venues Facebook and twitter pages which should spark your imagination.
